OUR MISSION
The Pat Melvin Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to support other charitable organizations and nonprofits in fulfilling their purpose through fundraising and awareness events. Founded in 2019, in honor of Patrick (Pat) Allen Melvin, who passed away from Wilson Disease, we host a yearly BigWOW Walk to raise money for Wilson Disease Association and awareness for this rare genetic disorder.
Patrick's Story
Our son, Patrick Allen Melvin, passed away from Wilson Disease complications on September 29, 2015. We had started taking him to the doctor when he began middle school for various concerns—looking back, it was small symptoms of Wilson Disease. Unfortunately, he was not diagnosed until he was 33 and in a very advanced state.
Board of Directors
Our Board of Directors is a diverse group of individuals who are bound together through their love for Patrick Melvin and his family. We have a common goal—share Pat's story in a big way and help others. Each member brings a unique skill set and area of expertise to the foundation. We have legal counsel, educators, marketing professionals, business owners, COOs, CEOs and many other highly talented professionals, all working on a volunteer basis to ensure that the Pat Melvin Foundation runs efficiently.
